Amit Sharma, Administrator Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu made surprise post-midnight visit at Emergency of Government Medical College Hospital on Sunday and made some important observations which were noted down by all concerned for implementation in near future for the convenience of patients and their attendants visiting here as the top referral Hospital of the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
During the swift round of the GMC Emergency and related areas at Jammu including its various units, wards and few important areas of the Hospital Complex, Administrator Amit Sharma made few glaring observations like non-availability of a shed or a resting area outside Emergency and absence of Wheel Chairs outside Emergency which should be made available immediately by the concerned authorities inside all Associated Hospitals. On enquiry by Amit Sharma, it was disclosed that a covered resting area with fixed sutting arrangement used to exist in the past but off-late, it got removed. Administrator gave immediate directions to restore same as it helps to decongest Emergency which is the need of the hour. He also give strict directions for ensuring that the Patients getting treated inside Emergency should be accompanied by not more than one or two patients, that too, with Valid Attendants passes so that Medical and Para-Mara Medical Staff inside Emergency could perform their duties efficiently and he directed concerned Security staff to implement it in letter and spirit.
During the post midnight visit, Administrator Amit Sharma personally visited the washroom areas and different easing points to check the level of cleanliness and directed the Sulabh and Cleaning staff to leave no stone unturned to keep them totally clean and hygienic 24x7. Amit directed that there should be clear display of medicine availability counters for convenience of Patients and there be absolutely no compromise on it and simplification of procedure especially for provisioning free medicines to BPL Ayushmann Bharat Patients. He warned of strict action against all those erring staff members which are found involved in nexus of sending patients outside the state without proper referral by the concerned doctors, diverting attendants to get medicines outside the Hospitals especially the ones which are available inside the Hospital stock, diverting patients to get tests done outside the Hospital which are otherwise available inside.
Amit Sharma also warned private Parking contractors to immediately stop the practice of overcharging parking Fees from the patients and their attendants visiting complexes of all Associated Hospital complexes by hiding the Parking charges on the slips. Amit also directed the Catering Contractor to serve Breakfast and all Meals strictly as per the terms of the contract and directed that the Breakfast should be served not before 7 am and the serving staff must visit every bed for provisioning same to sick IPD patients and never call them for collecting same outside Wards of the Associated Hospitals, apart from maintaining total hygiene and cleanliness while cooking and serving it.
Before leaving the Hospital Complex at almost 3 am post midnight, Amit Sharma advised CMOs on duty and Supervisors that the work culture including wearing of Aprons with Name Plates and I-Cards, has to be fully implemented all across the Hospitals of Union Territory as per the directions of Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Chief Secretary, FC Health and Medical Education and anyone found indulged in malpractices and compromising with health of innocent patients visiting Associated Hospitals of Jammu form far-flung areas of UT shall not be spared and strict most action shall be taken against such defaulters as permissible under law. He mentioned that this streak of night visits in Jammu Hospitals shall continue in the near future for the sake of incorporating major improvements in the health sector of the Union Territory.
